March 21, 2015 was a momentous day for Scouting in the San Gabriel Valley and
 the Los Angeles Area!
Both the San Gabriel Valley Council and the Los Angeles Area Council held a vote this morning to determine whether or not to join forces into a single united council for the benefit of Scouting in the greater Los Angeles area. I'm proud to report that both councils have decided to go forward as a single combined council and have approved the combined leadership slate for the new joint council.

This (name to be finalized) Greater Los Angeles Area Council will be one of the nation's strongest while unlocking cost savings that will result in more resources for program, greater camping experiences, and the ability for us to serve more youth with our incredible Scouting programs. Thank you to all the voting members and to the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to bring this merger to fruition.  We have a lot of work in front of us and our combined leadership team will be fully engaged in the effort to make this merger a success.

"...I wish to particularly welcome and thank the San Gabriel Valley Council guests. The Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley Councils are discussing a merger."  "...What we can accomplish together goes beyond what we can accomplish apart."  "...There is no finer organization to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetime. Offering outstanding Scouting experiences to more young people is our mission.”
